Baltimore, Md. — Big12 Lacrosse Events, a tournament arm of Rock Lacrosse, will host its 4th annual Big12 Fall Lacrosse Invitational on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at Blandair Park in Columbia, Maryland. Proceeds from the tournament will once again benefit the Brigance Brigade Foundation, a not-for-profit organization that supports people battling ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease) and their families.

Kevin Mayer, Executive Director Big12 Lacrosse Events, established the Big12 Fall Invitational to provide high school freshmen, sophomore and junior teams a competitive fall tournament experience — combining Elite level competition, NCAA DI, DII, DIII evaluation, and recruiting exposure for the team/players participating. The tournament brings a much-needed awareness to ALS as the Brigance Brigade Foundation, whose mission is to equip, encourage and empower people living with ALS, will be Big12 Lacrosse Events charitable partner for the event.

“The Brigance Brigade Foundation is incredibly grateful for this continued partnership with Big12 Lacrosse Events” said Amanda Mummert, Foundation Director of the Brigance Brigade Foundation. “We always enjoy working with Kevin and his team, and we can’t wait to see everyone come out and have a blast playing lacrosse all while supporting the families in their community battling with ALS.”

In 2018, the Big 12 Fall Lacrosse Invitational raised more than $6,000 for the Brigance Brigade Foundation, a total that organizers hope to surpass this year. The battle against ALS holds a special place in Coach Mayer’s heart. Frank “Lynn” Mayer, Kevin’s father, passed away while battling ALS in 2001. During Mr. Mayer’s battle with the disease, the support garnered — outside of medical attention — had a definitive and significant impact on the quality of his life and the Mayer family during his remaining years.

“The services and support that the Brigance Brigade Foundation provides to families are incredibly important, as I saw firsthand while I experienced my father’s battle,” said Kevin Mayer, Director of Big12 Lacrosse Events. “That’s why are continuing our support of the foundation and working hard to raise even more money, families battling ALS need our help.”
