PRLB UA Underclass Q&A w/ Southwest Command Girls Team studs, Kate Marano and Taylor Ambrosio representing Texas this weekend

If you’re attending the Under Armour Underclass tournament this weekend at Towson University make sure to check out the Girls Southwest Command team.

There are two girls that have talent to play at the Division 1 level and are fun to watch play the game.

Kate Marano of Greenhill HS and Taylor Ambrosio who plays for Flower Mound HS.

Ambrosio was named C2C Spotlight All-Star, and Played Varsity at Flower Mound as a 9th grader. The Rising sophomore is also a decent soccer player.

Marano is an impressive 2021 attacker with a ton of upside and tremendous stick skills.

The PRLB did a Q&A with both ladies and here’s what they had to say:

PRLB: How does it feel to be selected for the Under Armour Underclass event?

Ambrosio: It’s is a dream that came true.

PRLB: What’s it mean to you to get some excellent exposure to how you play the game in front of College coaches?

Ambrosio: It means the world to me that i got chosen to play with the best of the best and to get the opportunity to get scouted and potentially go to a Division 1 school.

PRLB: How long have you been playing lacrosse?

Ambrosio: 4 years

PRLB: How did you feel your HS team did this season?

Ambrosio: I don’t think my team did well this season we definitely didn’t connect as well as we should’ve we were all talented and we need to learn how to put it to play.

PRLB: What are you trying to improve on skill wise this summer?

Ambrosio: my aim and shot and to learn more dodges

PRLB: What kind of sticks do you play with?

Ambrosio: I play with a nike arise shaft and a crux 600 head or my syracuse stick

PRLB: Name the favorite song your listening to now.

Ambrosio: Lucid Dreams

PRLB: What’s your favorite movie?

Ambrosio: White Chicks

PRLB: In your opinion what’s the best part of your game?

Ambrosio: Dodging

PRLB: Has the new recruiting rules made the searching for college process easier for you?

Ambrosio: Yes, it gives me a chance to improve longer and not be rushed to be committed to one college.

PRLB: How does it feel to be selected for the Under Armour Underclass event?

Marano: It’s really exciting! making the team gives you a sense of validation that you are one of the best players in your region which it’s is super cool.

PRLB: What’s it mean to you to get some excellent exposure to how you play the game in front of College coaches?

Marano: It means a lot that these coaches are coming to see us play, it’s great exposure even though we are on the younger side of recruiting.

PRLB: How long have you been playing lacrosse?

Marano: I have been playing lacrosse for 6 years now but have been around the sport my whole life and i even played some boys lacrosse. when i was younger.

PRLB: How did you feel your HS team did this season?

Marano: My high school team did really well this past season. we retained our state champion title for division 2 in the state of texas so i would say it was a pretty successful season.

PRLB: What are you trying to improve on skill wise this summer?

Marano: This summer i’m focusing on my shot placement and form. i’m also working on dodging and moving off ball.

PRLB: What kind of sticks do you play with?

Marano: I play with a stx 10 degree shaft and a stx crux 500 head.

PRLB: Name the favorite song your listening to now.

Marano: My favorite song right now is nice for what by Drake.

PRLB: What’s your favorite movie?

Marano: My favorite movie is probably High School Musical 3.

PRLB: In your opinion what’s the best part of your game?

Marano: I think the best part of my game is my shot and my game IQ.

PRLB: Has the new recruiting rules made the searching for college process easier for you?

Marano: The new recruiting rule has helped me a lot because i don’t feel the pressure to narrow down the colleges i am interested right now. i think it’s important to have time to think about what college you want to go to for athletics but also academics.
