Selected teams will play in a Mason Dixon Championship game, held on June 12 on the campus of York College.
Big12 Lacrosse Events, one of the nations premier high school lacrosse recruiting tournament platforms, has partnered with Team Lacrosse, a Central PA showcase team and local league platform have partnered to deliver the Mason Dixon Public School Showcase.
Mason Dixon Public School Showcase was developed to offer public school student athletes from the state of Maryland and Central Pennsylvania District III programs a showcase event platform specifically tailored to the public school lacrosse player. In addition the event provides a competitive experience for public school players from both regions vying to be named Mason Dixon Champions!
All 2020 and 2019 players from Maryland public schools and Pennsylvania District III public schools are eligible to tryout (2021 players can inquire about trying out for 2020 teams). Big12 Lacrosse Events will direct 3 Maryland tryouts and Team Lacrosse will direct 3 Central Pennsylvania tryouts will hold 2–3 tryouts, held on local NCAA and NJCAA campuses. Tryouts will be posted shortly and will take place on Sunday’s in late April and early May (ahead of public school high school playoffs).
Players will be selected for the Maryland and Central Pennsylvania teams based upon the tryouts, in addition to review of their lacrosse resume, awards, and references gathered during the registration period. Selected teams will play in a Mason Dixon Championship game, held on June 12 on the campus of York College.
“The level of play at the public schools in District III (Central, PA) is on an exciting upward trend”, says Frank Corto — Director of Team Lacrosse, “I developed this concept as a platform to showcase the public school talent here, but to also provide public school players an event platform specifically tailored to them.”
When Team Lacrosse contacted us about Mason Dixon and helping direct the Maryland teams, deciding to engage was a “no brainer”, says Kevin Mayer, Executive Director Big12 Lacrosse Events, “although there are a number of showcase events Maryland public school players can consider today, few are aligned to serve the only the public school player. We also thought the competition with Central, PA provides a great opportunity to develop an awesome experience for public school players!”
Members of the NCAA coaching community will be invited to tryouts in both regions and the championship game. Recruiting booklets will be created at each tryout and selected players will be featured in a game-day program, and also via local and regional lacrosse media outlets prior to, during and after the championship game.
